How does a MAME (arcade) emulator work? I have other emulators and it seems like the MAME (arcade) emulator is different from all the rest. My other emulators are downloaded then each rom is downloaded separately, but all of the MAME (arcade) emulators downloaded are preloaded with roms and unplayable. Can anybody help me figure out how to make these roms work? Why is the MAME emulator different from the rest?

Question about MAME Emulator? Well I am pretty new to the MAME arcade emulator, but I'm trying my best to learn how to use it. One thing I don't get is that I downloaded the latest version of MAME (v.0.129) from the main website, and it doesn't seem like it can play any of the ROMS I downloaded. It always say theirs some ROM or CHD files missing. I already know about how alot of ROMS you download are old files or are meant for older versions of MAME and stuff like that, but if that is the case whats the point of even coming out with this new version of MAME if it can't play anything currently on the web? i can't play Metal Slug 5 on a Mame? ok so i have the mame arcade emulator, i have the neogeo zip file, the problem is i cant find metal slug 5 on the directory of games. ive downloaded the rom file for metalslug5 but in order to play it it has to be in the mame directory. it only shows all previous metalslugs which i can play fine. i might have an old mame emulator but i doubt it since i downloaded it recently of a popular site, so can anyone help?

What can I do with an old computer that I don't use anymore? It's an old 600mhz Celeron I think. Question about mame arcade games on my comp? I had copied all of my mame roms from my old computer onto cd's and now I am trying to move the mame roms (that are zip archive files?) onto my new computer. When i open the archived files in win ace and export them to my game folder on my computer it showes all of the mame roms. But when i click on one of the roms to play the game it says it cant find a program to run the rom?.. is there some kind of emulator or something els i should be doing to make these games play? I havent ever actually got to play these games. please help if anyone has knowledge... i may even buy you a pizza! :)

Which emulator would be able to play both Nintendo and Super Nintendo games? I recently build an arcade cabinet and have everything setup. However, I'm having difficulties getting the roms to work. I am using Ubuntu, but can use WINE and bring the retro back to the waiting game. I tried to use MAME, but that didn't work with my NES roms. I'm thinking MAME is just for arcade games themselves.
