How does a MAME (arcade) emulator work? I have other emulators and it seems like the MAME (arcade) emulator is different from all the rest. My other emulators are downloaded then each rom is downloaded separately, but all of the MAME (arcade) emulators downloaded are preloaded with roms and unplayable. Can anybody help me figure out how to make these roms work? Why is the MAME emulator different from the rest?

Problems with my MAME arcade gaming machine? The problems first started when I was playing a game and the screen would just go crazy and give me an error message. I would turn it off and go to something else. Then when I returned to play, I turned it on and it would start the process of booting up but the screen would scroll (move upwards and then start at the bottom again). Then it would go to a blank white screen. I have to unplug it to turn it off because ctrl/alt/delete didn't even work. When I turned it back on I tried to start it in safe mode. I could tell that the black with white letters was on the screen but the screen was going crazy (moving all over the place to fast you couldn't read anything.) I got it into safe mode but all a saw was a bunch of different locations (for lack of a better work) that all said /driver/blahblahblah at the end. What is going on with my machine. It is broken for good or is it fixable?

Want to convert MAME system arcade cabinet to a regular arcade cabinet? I have a MAME system arcade cabinet but it always freezes or the screen goes out when I'm in the middle of a game for no reason. I would like to convert the cabinet to hold NBA Jams. Any suggestions? Mame Arcade cabinet project? I built an arcade machine to specifically run mame (loads of classic arcade games). Thing is, it's got to go! need the room! Basically it's a hand built upright arcade machine, stained in teak with gold dragons down each side. 2 player with happ compatition joysticks and six buttons each, ideal for street fighter games. Has a selection of other buttons including 1 and 2 player start, credit, pause, exit, shutdown... This is an ideal starter if you want your own arcade machine. All the wiring is complete to all buttons along with pcb controler which plugs into usb on pc, marquee light and speakers are there. Just needs a pc in it and a 21" or above tv or monitor, and 1 more support beam. i'm letting it go for £100 but needs collecting as is heavy as hell! So not really a question as such, but thought i'd ask before it goes on ebay in about a week.

Question about mame arcade games on my comp? I had copied all of my mame roms from my old computer onto cd's and now I am trying to move the mame roms (that are zip archive files?) onto my new computer. When i open the archived files in win ace and export them to my game folder on my computer it showes all of the mame roms. But when i click on one of the roms to play the game it says it cant find a program to run the rom?.. is there some kind of emulator or something els i should be doing to make these games play? I havent ever actually got to play these games. please help if anyone has knowledge... i may even buy you a pizza! :)

Should I take back my AMD Phenom X3 and get a Intel Core 2 Duo for mame arcade? I went to Fry's a few days ago and updated my mame arcade with a Phenom x3 core. I had an old AMD 3800 and almost all games ran. Now there are just a few with a little lag. NFL blitz, and Dance Dance Revolution. I was reading online that AMD is the worst to use for mame and the Intel Core 2 Duo was by far the best. All I want to know is it worth it to return what I have to Fry's and get the Intel Core 2 Duo? I have been messing around with some software and have found Mame as well as GameEx, Gameex i would need to pay for as it needs a serial to get rid of the Nag screen, where is mame is free. Can anyone beat the MAME version (arcade) of Final Fight with 1 quarter? This game was designed to drain you of your quarters, regardless of your skill. The best I can do is beat it with three tries (75 cents). At this point, I would pay money to see someone beat that game in one try. I think it is impossible.

Want to convert arcade cabinet to MAME? Hello all. I have a full size arcade cabinet with working controls (although I want to change them) and monitor (has burn-in...will probably upgrade). I'd like some help on how to go about converting to MAME. I'm going to gut the insides and install a computer. I currently have a horizontal monitor, but may like to install a rotating one. I sure could use some help from the experts. I'm not very mechanical, but do know my way around a computer. I would like to play all of the old games, including, Galaga, Pac Man, Dragon's Lair, etc. I have heard that playing vertical screen games (such as Galaga and Pac Man) on horizontal screens make them look squished. I tried doing a similar thing for a sega genesis emulator and didn't know what or how to do it to make it work so I gave up. MAME (SNK emulator) help? somone please help me. I have mame 2 (SNK emulator) and I have the roms and everything, but i had a problem. I went to tab during a game, and i went to configure (general) and for the menu, i hit enter as if i was changing the key to get to the menu, then i accidently hit esc. and it said None. So no i cant pull out the menu. Is there a cache or something or some way to restore the settings?
