Will Sega Genesis 3 games work on a Sega Genesis 1?

My friend wants to sell me some games for my Sega but I have the original, will the games still work or no?

3. Yes. SEGA Genesis games are NOT dependent on the system version. The different Genesis systems are just for style... they all do the same thing.
