Why does my 2 player Simpsons Arcade Game look different than other ones?

I just bought a stand up Simpsons arcade game (2 player) and some of the things, like the control board, and the cabinet look different than other 2 player Simpsons arcade games I've seen. Does anyone know why this is? Did Konami make different cabinets and control boards or did people just put the PCBs and marquees in different cabinets?

2. The Simpsons was going to be just a 4 player releases cabinet but they decided to sell one type of cabinet for two player. Also you were able to buy the PCB, marquee, and artwork to install in a general cabinet. I have converted two, two players cabinets and refurbished one 4 player cabinet which I still have in my game room. http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9550
