Are all sega genesis games compatible with the first generation model?

I have the first model of the sega genesis and I want to make sure I will be able to play any kind of sega game on it no matter how new the game is before I buy it.

2. I had a Genesis 1, 2, and 3 and all my games worked for it, so I think so.
3. I believe they should be compatible. Back then, there was only 1 model of a console, not like the current generation where you have a bunch of different models. If the game can't play, the game includes any additional accessory that you might need.
